The Department of Mass Communication, University of Kelaniya, hosted its monthly guest lecture on 7th January 2026, at the Social Sciences Auditorium, featuring the distinguished Dr Charitha Dissanayake, a Teacher from The University of Melbourne, Australia. The event was organized under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr Manoj Jinadasa, and attended by former Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology, Dr. Chamley Pushpakumara, along with department members including Research Unit Coordinator Dr Chala Abeykoon, Dr Aruna Lokuliyana, Dr Mangala Keerthy Pasqual, Senior Lecturer Dammika Bandara, and Lecturer Dasini Madurasinghe.
Dr Dissanayake, who conducted the lecture under the topic ‘Future of Media and the Industry,’ shared his expertise in Australian ethnical media studies and presented his latest research, offering valuable insights into contemporary trends in media and communication while engaging the audience in a dynamic discussion.
The lecture attracted a wide audience, including undergraduate students from the Mass Communication, Public Relations, and Media Management programs, as well as other members of the university community.
