Communication and Media Unit Staff Commended at University Felicitation Ceremony

The Director and the staff members of the Communication and Media Unit of the University of Kelaniya were commended during a felicitation ceremony held on 1 January 2026 at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences. 

The ceremony, held under the patronage of Senior Professor Nilanthi de Silva, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya, was organized with the objective of recognizing the notable contributions of university staff members to the advancement of the University.  

The staff members of the Communication and Media Unit were recognized in appreciation of their commendable service towards the betterment of the University. The Unit has played a significant role in enhancing the University’s reputation and public image, maintaining strong and constructive relationships with national media institutions, and strengthening the University’s visibility. In addition, the Unit has actively promoted knowledge sharing through media, communication, and outreach initiatives, serving effectively as a key public relations and communication platform of the University.

Accordingly, Senior Lecturer Saman Rajapaksha, Director; Mr A. M. S. K. Aththanayaka, Assistant Media Officer; Ms K. G. S. Priyadarshani, Assistant Media Officer; Mr H. P. R. P. Kumara, Assistant Media Officer; Ms R. R. S. Ranaweera, Assistant Media Officer; Ms N. A. D. Nanayakkara, Translator; and Mr W. B. M. R. Basnayaka, Media Assistant, received commendations during the ceremony.  

The event was graced by the presence of Senior Professor Sudath R. D. Kalingamudali, Dean of the Faculty of Science; Professor M. M. Gunatilake, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences; Professor Bandara Wanninayake, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies; Professor Dhammika Weerasinghe, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Technology; Dr Sudath Senarath, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities; and Mr K. K. K. Dharmathilaka, Registrar of the University, along with other administrative officers and non-academic staff members.
